Cloud computing ‘has fuelled big data’

18"may

The rise of cloud computing has been named as one of the key contributors to the big data trend, which is currently being tackled by many firms.

Jiyan Wei, chief executive officer and co-founder of BuildZoom.com, explained the way to work out what is behind big data is to ask whether features of it were around during previous data revolutions.

In the case of the cloud, it was not, meaning the virtual computing system is one of the factors that makes up modern-day big data.

The use of the cloud could make it easier for firms to deal with big data, as it provides vast storage space and easy processing.

It seems the cloud is at the very centre of many ideas and technologies in contemporary computing. Only this week, John Sculley, former Apple chief executive and a legend of Silicon Valley, said it is one of the key drivers in what is an "amazing time" for IT.
