Frequently Asked Questions

Question
What is a public cloud?
Answer:
Naturally, a public cloud is a service that anyone can tap into with a network connection. "Public clouds are shared infrastructures with pay-as-you-go economics," explains Forrester analyst James Staten in an April report. "Public clouds are easily accessible, multitenant virtualised infrastructures that are managed via a self-service portal."

Question
What is a private cloud?
Answer:
A private cloud attempts to mimic the delivery models of public cloud vendors but does so entirely within the firewall for the benefit of an enterprise's users. A private cloud would be highly virtualised, stringing together mass quantities of IT infrastructure into one or a few easily managed logical resource pools.

Question
What is a hybrid cloud?
Answer:
Hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more clouds (private, community, or public) that remain unique entities but are bound together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.

Question
Who will manage my Codestone Cloud resources?
Answer:
There are two options available. Once your virtual system has been created and any data migration completed, Codestone can manage all or some of your system, depending on the level of technical resource within your organisation.
The first option is applicable to companies with high levels of technical resource who will be provided with access to their system via the Codestone Cloud management console and can manage, deploy and remove resources as required.
The second option is applicable to companies with little or no in-house technical resource who can utilise our technical resources through Codestone’s suite of managed services products called Systemsure. With SystemSure’s flexibility you have the option of selecting the elements of your system and any associated software applications that will be monitored and managed by Codestone, including response times and the levels of service that best suit your business needs.

Question
Can I access my system from outside of my place of work?
Answer:
This is the key feature of utilising a virtualised system, hosted in Codestone Cloud. If you have an internet connection available, you can access all you business applications from any location and on any device, all subject to your own security rules and permissions. This allows organisations to implement a remote access policy and in turn a robust business continuity strategy.
